Canning Green Beans

The canning season has begun at the Robinson household as of last night 7-10-09! We are off to a good start with 21 quarts of canned green beans! We kept 3 uncanned quarts to cook with new garden potatoes for Sunday dinner and 2 quarts to give our elderly neighbors. So had we canned them all we would have totaled 26 quarts!  We are off to a good start and after the shower of rain we had last night should make for another pickin' in a day or so.

We have been blessed with what seems to be a bountiful garden of produce again this year. We give thanks to the Lord for all our blessings!
We are expecting to have lots of tomatoes soon too. I'm going to try canning some tomato juice this year, seedless of course, since I can't stand seeds in my  food. I've also got plans to freeze some salsa that I will make with our garden tomatoes. It will be my first try so I'll blog about that later I suppose.
